ABOUT ME

Even though I am far away from my parents, my sister, my brothers and their families for long periods of time, they are always close to my heart.
They are and will always be my greatest source of strength and inspiration.

My name is Bonifacio Galván Rodríguez.

From 1970 to 1977
I was born in a very small city called Río Bravo, Tamaulipas; México. On August 11th, 1970.
In my first six years of life, we lived in a small house in what we call "El rancho de la 24". "24" is the name of the dirt road where the house was and it is to the east of Río Bravo. The house is still there surrounded by Corn fields which are divided by water irrigation canals.
My first memories there are of sunrises and sunsets. Specially the Sunsets of a big and dark yellow Sun. It was so interesting to me how every morning the sun would rise from a water canal from one side of our house and it would be swallowed by another water canal on the other side.
I now say that our house was small. But back then it seemed huge to me. A few years ago I had the opportunity of visiting that house again. It is almost in ruins now and could fall apart soon. But now I can appreciate how small it really is. Yet the memories I have from it are enormous.

From 1977 to 1985
We moved to the big city of Río Bravo. After living in a small house surrounded by farming land, any city is a big one.
I had already studied my first elementary school year in "La 28" -I think that name does not need explanation anymore-. So when we moved to Río Bravo, I started my second year. And from then on until finishing what we call secondary school. First in the "Luis Cabrera" primary school and then in the "Alfredo del Mazo" secondary school.
My contact with music started in those years. My parents enrolled me in guitar classes. And I was always participating in some type of artistic activity.
To some extent, singing and playing the guitar became something natural. I did not think about it. I just did it. And I wasn't so enthusiastic about it either. It was just something that came to my life and I adopted it as a part of me without even trying or noticing it.

From 1985 to 1996
After following my parents advice and also following the lead of friends and cousins, I went to study to Monterrey, Nuevo León; México. By far, a much bigger city than Río Bravo. First I studied at the "Eugenio Garza Sada Campus" and then in the "Monterrey Campus". Both from the "ITESM".
My studies had nothing to do with music. I became a Computer Engineer at the end of my studies. Yet, in that part of my life is when I fell in love with Stages :)
There was something magical about live stage productions that captivated me. I have been trying to be on one or around one since those magical first experiences on live stages. It is something that I can't take out of my life now. You might even call it an addiction. And you might be probably right. But I have called it "Home" for many years now. I can't imagine myself voluntarily doing something different.
And I experienced different types of stages and with many different stories to tell. I was usually on them singing and acting. I participated in musical theater shows as soloist or ensemble; big and small concerts as soloist or ensemble; bar rock groups; weddings groups; jingles and demos studio recordings. I can't really remember how many things I did. Or the places and dates. But the faces of the incredible friends and colleagues I met along the way are still present.
In those years I decided to not let go. To not leave the stages behind. That as long as I had energy, I would try to be around or on a live stage.
And then, in the second part of 1996, following the lead of one of my best friends, I ended up in an audition. And it was an event that made an abrupt change in my life and pushed me to where I am today.

From 1997 to 2004

From 2004 to 2005

From 2004 to 2007

Since 2007

Throughout my life, I have been surrounded by great friends and good people.
It is the greatest blessing that life has given me.
I am and will always be grateful to them for letting me be a part of their life.
